The Position <br />The Cit<r Engineer reports to the City- administrator and is responsible to reVie~V and <br />oversee engineering related functions of new and rede~-elopment projects as well as oversee <br />work on both consultant designed and in-house desigl~ed public works projects. <br />Specific duties: <br />Provides professional engineering sei-~rices in the planning, design, and management of <br />improvement projects. <br />- Designs or reviews designs for all city infrastruct«re projects to ensure design criteria <br />and all ~LN Dot and city specifications are met. <br />- Provides pl~u~ review, coordination, and management of private development projects. <br />- Provides design, plan review, coordination, management, and construction oversight <br />of City infrastn~cfure projects. <br />- Performs inspections on private and public projects. <br />- Coordinates and attends all bid openings and preconstil~ction meetings. <br />- Ensures completion of improvements conducted b~ private developers as specified in <br />development contracts. <br />- Remains up-to-date on all specifications, regulations, codes, construction practices and <br />generally accepted engineei-ii~g standards. <br />- Coordinates and oversees application of all local, state, and federal ordinances, codes, <br />rules and regulations and ensures aIl reporting requirements are met. <br />- Facilitates and negotiates contracts and agreements with Vendors and consultants for <br />the benefit of the City. <br />- Ensures interdepartmental/interdiVisional cooperation on projects. <br />- Reviews preliminary and final plats, commercial site plans, preliminar~r utility plans, <br />grading plans, constnzctions plans, drawings, and specifications submitted bV <br />consultants, engineers and developer to determine whether the~~ conform to Cit<r <br />comprehensive plans, guidelines, policies, ordinances, and engineering standards. <br />- Maintains and updates information on mapping s~-stem and database within a <br />reasonable time from date of information change. <br />- Produces maps, charts, and drawings to support other departments. <br />- Participates with Environmental Division to meet aIl NPDES requirements. <br />- Rrorks with Building Safet<T division on issues such as grading permits, building permit <br />review, etc. <br />- Participates in de~-elopment of the capital impro~-ements program. <br />- Prepares assessment roles and leads the administration of the assessment process. <br />Directs and supei-~Tises division operations to achie~-e goals within available resources. <br />- St«dies and standardizes procedures to improve efficienc and effecti~-eness of <br />operations. <br />- Delegates work assignments. <br />attends city council and planning commission meetings and meetings with other <br />governmental agencies ~u~d public groups. Composes reports, makes presentations and <br />works with Various committees. Sei-~-es as staff li~uson to Various committees, boards, and <br />commissions. <br />
