107 TAP SCHEDULE AND CHARGES <br />TAP CHARGE-NEW <br />A charge will be made for each 5/8 " x 1 "tap. If a 1"service is approved by the General Manager of the <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities a 5/8" x 1" or 1" x 1"tap will be furnished. If a 1 %" or larger service is <br />approved, a saddle shall be installed on the Main. All wet taps for four (4) inch and/or larger tap shall <br />have a cadwelled strap installed from the Main being tapped to the pipe being added, beyond to the <br />valve of tap. Cost of all taps shall be the responsibility of the property owner and shall only be made by <br />qualified personnel with equipment & previous experience in making taps.. <br />If a retap changes in size- charge shall be the full price of the appropriate size. <br />108 METERS <br />METER FURNISHED <br />The supply of water through each house service shall be recorded by a meter purchased from Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities and all water shall pass through this meter. <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities will sell only one meter for each residential service, and it or its remote <br />register shall not be disconnected or interfered with by the customer or others. A 5/8" or'/" meter of the <br />remote read type will be sold for each residential service. The Elk River Municipal Utilities will sell one <br />meter of the required size and of the remote read type for commercial and industrial service. Detector <br />check valves shall be installed on all fire services. <br />MULTIPLE UNITS <br />Where multiple dwelling units (as an example: apartments) are served through a common meter. There <br />shall be one service and meter. <br />Where multiple dwelling units (as an example: duplex, three-plex & four-plex units) each unit shall have <br />individual services and meters, unless the units Association pays the water fees. <br />LOCATION OF METERS <br />All meters shall be installed as near as is practicable to the point where the service enters the building in <br />an approved accessible, dry, frost proof, and vandal proof place. The service point of entry shall be close <br />to an outside wall. Services shall not run under floors ahead of the meter. An approved shutoff (ball type) <br />valve shall be required inside the building upstream and downstream of the meter. <br />REMOTE REGISTERS <br />Generally the ERT is attached to the meter, but if required, all wiring for remote meters shall be installed <br />by the plumbing contractor before rough-in inspection is done by Elk River Building Department. If, for <br />any reason, no wire is installed for the remote register at the time that Elk River Municipal Utilities is to <br />seal the meter and connect the remote register, the Utilities may elect to run the wire and charge the <br />contractor if contractor concurs. The contractor will be charged time and materials with a minimum <br />charge of $300 if the Utilities has to run the wire for the remote register. A remote register will be <br />installed by Elk River Municipal Utilities. <br />CARE OF METERS <br />The customer shall be responsible for the care of the water meter, wire and remote register from any <br />accidental or willful injury thereto and shall at all times protect the meter from freezing or from damage <br />from heat, hot water or steam. If a meter is damaged, the Elk River Municipal Utilities will repair it and <br />charge the cost thereof to the consumer or property owner, (see Item #1-Base Charge List). <br />12 <br />
