Consider Civil EnzineerPosition <br />Ms. Johnson presented the staff report. <br />'age 3 <br />Cou member Motxn questioned the andcipated start date. Ms. Johnson, explained that the <br />position coWd begin at any time because it is already budgeted through project costs; <br />however, it may take many months to complete the ung process. It was noted that hiring a <br />staff engineer wiU be a cast savings to the City because the houdy rate for a staff engineer is <br />much lower than for the consulting engineer. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER ZIA.S AN -D SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBERAPPROVE T CWIL ENGINEER <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION AS OUTLINED, A ' VE THE POSITION ,AT <br />PAY GSE NINE, AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO INITIATE THE PROCESS <br />TO BILL THIS POSITION. MOTION N 5-0. <br />5-5. Consider Bos & Girls Club FundinZ.Request <br />Ms. Johnson presented the staff report She expkined that a reduction in services is <br />necessar to fimd this request. She provided options stating that the logical place to make <br />cuts would be from other parks and recreation programs. <br />Councilmember Zerwas and Cou ciiraern er Motin stated they would like to help but do <br />not see a viable funding source. <br />Councilmember .barber concurred that recreation programs should not be cut but noted that <br />if the Boys and Girls Club ease their doors the building vii default back to the City. He felt <br />the City shoLld provide the $10,330 requested for tis year and ac .no vledged it wood be <br />difficult to fund the requested amount for next year. Councilmember Oumphre r conc=cd <br />that the request for this year shoLgd be funded. <br />Mayor min ing stated she would Eke to see the community support the Boys and Girls <br />Club. She stated it is difficult to consider the ending request when the status of the budget <br />is unknown at this time. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN AND SECONDED B <br />UNILMEMBEB.
