It was noted that the project does not <br /> require any land acquisition and all the improvements can be completed within Mn/DOT <br /> right-of-way. <br /> <br />7.3. <br /> <br />7.4. <br /> <br />7.5. <br /> <br />Discussion was held about the impact of installing a median on Main Street in front of UPA <br />Service Drive. The median would allow a right out only for those e~ting from the service <br />drive onto Main Street, and would not allow traffic to turn into the service drive from <br />westbound Main Street. Jeff Gongoll indicated that closing this ~vould impact both Chamber <br />and Great River Energy employees and visitors. The City Engineer indicated that due to <br />Council concerns over the impact this would have on the Chamber and Great River Energy; <br />he would continue to look at other options. <br /> <br />Pavement Rehabilitation Project <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer reviewed the pavement rehabilitation report. The City Engineer <br />noted that the £~rst project identified in the report is Fourth Street from Main Street to <br />Trunk Highway 10. He noted that if the report is adopted, a public informational hearing <br />would be held in November and the improvement project is scheduled for 2003. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADOPT THE PAVEMENT <br />REHABILITATION REPORT. COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED $-0 <br /> <br />Transportation Plan Update <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer provided an update on the ~vork that has been done on the <br />transportation plan. He noted that the transportation plan is somewhat on hold until the <br />comp plan has been completed. He further indicated that the transportation plan will <br />accommodate the current comp plan transportation issues. <br /> <br />Other Transportation Issues/Updates <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer provided updates on the following transportation issues. <br /> <br />175 m Avenue Improvement Project <br />Orono Parkway - Councilmember Dietz indicated that the street lighting committee has <br />recommended installing streetlights along Orono Parkway. Councilmember Dietz <br />questioned whether it was appropriate for the Utilities to pay the entire bill for the <br />streetlights because the original streetlights were taken down per Council <br />recommendation. He suggested that the City consider paying a portion of the cost.
