City of Elk River <br /> Park and Recreation Director <br />t aver Position Description <br /> <br />Department: I Immediate Supervisor: <br /> Park and Recreation I Cit7 Administrator <br />Pay Grade: FLSA Status: I Last Updated: (date) <br /> Exempt I 2/27/02 <br /> <br />Positions Supervised: <br />Recreation Manager, Recreation Programmers, Secretarial Staff, Facility Coordinator, Park Foreman, <br /> Ice Arena Staff, Senior Citizen Programming Staff, Library Staff, Park Planner <br /> Position Summary <br />The Park and Recreation Director is responsible for the oversight of park planning, maintenance <br />and recreation programming. This position reports to the City Administrator and is responsible for <br />the development and implementation of the Master Park Plan, Park Capital Improvement <br />Plan/Budget, and the bud[et for operation of the department. <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br />1. Develops and administers, in conjunction with others, the City's park and recreation system <br /> and programs <br /> A. Oversees the preparation of recreation programs and services. <br /> B. Coordinates construction and maintenance of park facilities. <br /> C. Oversees scheduling and use of park facilities. <br /> <br />Develops and implements the City's Master Park Plan <br />A. Plans, directs, and presents the development/revision of Master Park Plan. <br />B. Updates portions of the Master Park Plan. <br />C. Coordinates review of land use applications (subdivisions) for consistency with the <br /> Master Park Plan. <br />D. Monitors trends in parks and recreation for inclusion in the Master Park Plan. <br />E. Prepares and implements Capital Improvements Plan and Budget. <br />F. Coordinates long-range regional park planning with other jurisdictions. <br />G. Coordinates implementation activities with local associations and other <br /> jurisdications. <br />H. Prepares and submits grant applications for the acquisition of land and the <br /> development of parks. <br /> <br />Coordinates activities for the Park and Recreation Commission. <br />A. Oversees and participates in preparation of agendas and agenda materials. <br />B. Schedules meetings. <br />C. Coordinates Capital Improvement budget development for parks. <br />D. Attends appropriate park development meetings. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Oversees the provision of recreational programming to City's residents. <br />A. Keeps current on new developments in the park and recreation field. <br />B. Encourages creative thought for new program opportunities. <br />C.
