Dear Mayor:
In regards to the "for discussion purposes only" 20 year Vision for ER.

My husband and I own a home on 5th Street NW, near St. Andrews. We are ~concerned about
the recent map and letter that we received from our neighbor.

Could you please address a few questions that we have at the meeting today.

· What is the percentage of homes in Elk River that are vacant? (including medium and
heavy density housing - "affordable housing")

· At what point does the City decide that there is enough housing for the time being - Does
ER have a moratorium on housing?

· What will this do with the value of our homes? The value in the future if we want to sell?

· With the increase of medium/heavy density housing in the Lions Park area and along
Jackson - What consideration was given regarding the schools?
(I understand that the balance of student population with all social and economic
backgrounds to be healthy. It appears this would throw this off balance. How about the
increased enrollment at schools - that already have large classroom sizes.)

. What is the benefit to the developers? To the city?

· Who paysJor these changes? How about the relocation of the Fire Department? Are the
tax payers the ones to pay?

· What is the board's definition of a home or area referred to as an "eyesore" Obviously, we
all have a different perspective and definitions of this word or other words used to
describe the housing in parts oftown.

o Was a task force considered to help those needing repairs, painting, general up
keep? Kind hearted volunteers that would assist those that physically or
financially are unable to do the work themselves?

· With increased population along Jackson and Lion's Park, is there concern with heavy
traffic flow and safety issues for pedestrians and drivers - not to mention congestion.

· How does the police department view Lion's Park activity now and with the proposed
saturation of medium/high density housing? Is there concern with the increased amount
of traffic in the park? How about safety issues? We currently chose certain times to use
the walking paths and avoid other times to avoid some of the activity that takes place in
the park.

Thank you!

The Olsen Family
