<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />FIRE PREVENTION <br /> <br />ELK RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES <br /> <br />CODE COMPLIANCE <br />PROCEDURE <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SCOPE: This procedure outlines the steps to be taken while doing the initial fire <br />inspection or any follow-up inspections required. <br /> <br />PROCEDURE: All public and private bwldings within the jurisdiction of this department <br />within the City of Elk River will be inspec:;tedfor fire code violations as specified in the <br />current adopted edition of the Unifonn Fire Code. <br /> <br />Specific occupancies throughout the city have been catf;',gorized and put on a priority list <br />(see below). Specific occupancies will be inspected acc:,'rding to age offacilities, oldest <br />first, until all have been inspected, then put on a regularly scheduled inspection program <br /> <br />After the initial inspection has been made, if any code violations are found, a follow-up <br />inspection will be required according to this procedure. <br /> <br />PRIORITY INSPECTIONS: The following schedule shall be used to establish and <br />maintain a list of occupancies which requtl"e inspections on a regularly scheduled bases as <br />time permits. <br /> <br />Schools, daycare facilities, nursing homes, and hotels/motels are inspected by State Fire <br />Marshal deputies with the assistance of the local jurisdiction. <br /> <br />Priority <br /> <br />Occupancies <br /> <br />Number of Buildings <br /> <br />~--~-------~---------------------------------------------------- <br />~--------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Residential (rental) units above or within commercial <br />facilities - The entire stmcture, not just the residential unit <br />will be inspected <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Apartment Complexes (3 units or more) <br /> <br />921 Units <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Place of Assembly (restaurants, clubs, churches, etc.) <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Retail merchandise stores <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Service type facilities (gas stations, auto body shops, etc.) <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Office complexes <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Industrial facilities <br /> <br />================================================================ <br /> <br />TOTAL <br />
