<br />WORK RULES <br /> <br />In accepting employment with the City of Elk River. employees become representatives of the <br />City and are responsible for assisting and serving the citizens for whom they work. An <br />employee's primary responsibility is to serve the residents of Elk River. Employees should <br />exmibit conduct that is ethical. professional. responsive. and of standards becoming of a City <br />employee. Th achieve this goat employees must adhere to established policies. rules. and <br />procedures and follow the instructions of their supervisors. <br /> <br />The following are iob requirements for every position of the City of Elk River. All employees <br />are expected to: <br /> <br />. Perform assigned duties to the best of their abilities at all times. <br /> <br />. Render prompt and comieous service to the public at all times. <br /> <br />. Read. understand. and comply with the rules and regulations as set forth III these <br />Personnel Policies as well as those of their qepartments. <br /> <br />. Conduct themselves with decorum toward both residents and s tafT and respond to <br />inquiries and information requests with patience and courtesy. <br /> <br />. Report any and all unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor. <br /> <br />. Maintain good attendance. <br /> <br />ORIENT A nON PERIOD <br /> <br />The City of Elk River regards the Orientation Period as an integral part of the employment <br />process. During the Orientation Period, the City and the new employee should consider whether <br />the employment situation appears to be satisfactory. <br /> <br />The Orientation Period consists of the first six (6) months of employment. During the <br />Orientation Period, the City will observe the employee's work to determine whether the <br />employee demonstrates that he/she is qualified for the position to which he/she has been <br />appointed. Performance, skills, ability, and other factors observed and demonstrated during the <br />Orientation Period are evaluated by the employee's supervisor in order to determine whether the <br />employee will be retained by the City. As during employees' regular employment, employment <br />during the orientation period is at-will, meaning the employee and the City each have the right to <br />terminate employment with or without cause or notice (except if provided otherwise by statute or <br />applicable collective bargaining agreement). If the employee does not meet established <br />standards, and there is reason to believe, in the City's sole discretion, that a longer review period <br />is needed, the Orientation Period may be extended to a total of twelve (12) months. <br /> <br />3 <br />
