<br />Donated leave will be paid at the recipient's current rate of pay. Donated hours do not qualify to <br />be included as part of sick leave for the Severance Pay calculation. <br /> <br />Sick leave donated will be reduced hour for hour from the donating employee's Severance Pay as <br />defined in this Personnel Policy. For example, ifthe employee is due 144 hours of severance pay <br />and has donated 8 hours of sick leave to another employee, the severance pay will be 136 hours <br />times the employee's current rate of pay. <br /> <br />This policy applies on a prorated basis for part-time employees eligible for sick leave. <br /> <br />HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />The following holidays are observed by the City: <br /> <br />. New Year's Day (January 1) <br />. Martin Luther King's Birthday (third Monday in January) <br />. President's Day (third Monday in February) <br />. Memorial Day (last Monday in May) <br />. Independence Day (July 4) <br />. Labor Day (first Monday in September) <br />. Veteran's Day (November 11) <br />. Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November) <br />. Friday After Thanksgiving <br />. Christmas Eve (December 24) <br />. Christmas Day (December 25) <br /> <br />Regular full-time employees are eligible to receive pay for these holidays. <br /> <br />Eligible part-time employees will receive paid holidays on the same basis as regular full-time <br />employees, except that holiday pay will be pro-rated according to the number of hours worked. <br />Eligible part time employees hired before January I, 2004, include employees working a <br />minimum of 1040 hours per year. Eligible part time employees hired on or after January 1,2004, <br />include regularly scheduled part time employees who work a set, consistent schedule and who <br />work a minimum of forty (40) hours per biweekly pay period and non-scheduled part time <br />employees who work as needed who work a minimum of 1560 hours per year. Temporary and <br />seasonal employees are not eligible for holiday pay. <br /> <br />Generally, for employees working a Monday through Friday workweek, holidays occurring on <br />Saturday will be observed the preceding Friday and holidays occurring on Sunday will be <br />observed on the following Monday. When Christmas Eve Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, or <br />when Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, the City may designate one of these holidays as a <br />floating holiday to be taken at another time as approved by the employee's supervisor. When <br />applicable, special notice will be issued regarding such holiday changes. A floating holiday must <br />be taken in a one day increment. It will not be paid at termination or at the end of the year if it <br />has not been used. <br /> <br />16 <br />
