Paul, MN 55155 Dear Mr. Weidenfeller: We are writing to obtain the support of the Minnesota D.A.R.E. Advisory Council for our community efforts to create an unforget- table, landmark fundraiser. . The Elk River Police Department was the first to inaugurate the D.A.R.E. Program in the state of Minnesota. In keeping with that leadership role, we would like to be the first to initiate the D.A.R.E. program in our secondary schools. We have had many requests from parents and students, over the last couple of years, to install a reinforcement program at the seventh grade level. Need, has never been the issue - funding, was. Our department, along with residents, civic, and business leaders of our community would like to propose, for your approval, an event called, D.A.R.E. To Build a House in seven days. The profit from our house building event will go towards the salary of our secondary school officer. We are anticipating a profit between 30 to 50 thousand dollars. As you can well imagine, this will be a high visibility fundraiser. We expect participation from manufacturers, and building suppliers from allover the state, as well as our local Elk River Builders Assn. We may even make the national news. So, it is imperative we have your support. We would like to make a formal announcement to the business community at our Chamber of Commerce Meeting, April 20. We hope we have given you enough time.
