■ Temporary and seasonal employees are generally not eligible for compensation for <br />absences due to fury duty but can take a leave without pay suboect to department <br />head approval. <br />Victim or Witness Leave <br />Employees subpoenaed or requested by a prosecutor to testify in court related to sexual <br />assault, domestic abuse, or stalking, who is the victim or is the spouse or immediate family <br />member of such victim, shall be allowed the use of earned sick and safe time for <br />reasonable time off from work to attend criminal proceedings related to the victim's case. <br />Seethe Earned Sick and Safe Time po/icyfor additional information. <br />Bereavement Leave <br />Regular full-time and regular part-time employees working a minimum of 1,040 hours per <br />year are permitted a paid leave from scheduled work to make funeral arrangements, for <br />funeral attendance, to care for survivors, gather with relatives, and/or to otherwise grieve <br />a familial death. Bereavement leave is prorated for eligible regular, part-time employees <br />according to the number of hours worked. Leave is limited to the following: <br />■ Up to five (5) days: Husband, wife, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, <br />stepmother, stepfather, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, and stepsister. <br />■ Up to three (3) days: Son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, <br />grandparent, or grandchild. <br />■ One (1) day: Aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, <br />Godchild, grandparent -in-law. <br />■ With city administrator approval, leave may be granted in certain unique family <br />arrangements. <br />Leave days shall be concurrent unless approved by the city administrator and supervisor. <br />Additional time off for bereavement may be granted and charged to vacation leave or <br />compensatory time, if available. Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement <br />shall receive bereavement benefits as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. <br />General Leave <br />The city recognizes that unique personal circumstances may cause an employee to seek <br />time off without pay. The city may, at its sole discretion, grant unpaid personal leaves of <br />absence (General Leave). Approval is required from the immediate supervisor, department <br />director, and the city administrator. General Leave shall not exceed ninety (90) days, <br />unless approved by the city administrator. <br />Vacation and ESST leave do not accrue during a -General Leave and the employee is <br />not eligible for holiday pay or other types of leave.
