fifteen days will follow the same procedures as for any employee on an unpaid leave of <br />absence. <br />Employees will be granted up to ten working days of unpaid leave whose immediate family <br />member (defined as a person's parent, child, grandparents, siblings or spouse) is a <br />member of the United States armed forces who has been injured or killed while engaged <br />in active service. The 10 days may be reduced if an employee elects to use appropriate <br />accrued paid leave. <br />Unless the leave would unduly disrupt the operations of the city, employees whose <br />immediate family member, as a member of the United States armed forces has been <br />ordered into active service in support of a war or other national emergency, will be <br />granted an unpaid leave of absence, not to exceed one day's duration in any calendar <br />year, to attend a send-off or homecoming ceremony for the mobilized service member. <br />The city will grant employees an unpaid leave of absence for time spent serving as a <br />member of the Civil Air Patrol upon request and authority of the state or any of its political <br />subdivisions, unless the absence would unduly disrupt the operations of the city. <br />Employees may choose to use vacation leave in place of unpaid leave. <br />Civil Air Patrol <br />The city will grant employees an unpaid leave of absence for time spent serving as a <br />member of the Civil Air Patrol upon request and authority of the State or any of its political <br />subdivisions, unless the absence would unduly disrupt the operations of the city. <br />Employees may choose to use vacation leave while on Civil Air Patrol Leave but are not <br />required to do so. <br />Jury Duty Leave and Court Appearances <br />Employees are allowed a leave of absence pursuant to state statutes without restriction or <br />sanction when called for jury duty. <br />■ An employee performing jury duty or testifying in court for city -related business will <br />receive the difference between his/her regular rate of pay and the amount received <br />as juror or witness up to the maximum allowed by state or federal law. Upon <br />receipt of payment from the court, documentation of payment shall be provided to <br />Human Resources. <br />■ The employee must notify his/her supervisor and initiate a leave of absence within <br />forty-eight (48) hours of receiving call for jury duty. <br />■ An employee excused or released from jury duty during regular work hours must <br />report to his/her supervisor immediately thereafter. <br />■ Time spent on jury duty will not count as time worked in computing overtime. <br />■ In order to receive regular wages for the period, employees shall report <br />compensation received forjury duty to Human Resources. <br />t- <br />Page 43187 <br />Page 114 of 447 <br />
