Employees are expected to return from General Leave when the reason for the leave <br />expires. Employees who take a General Leave have no right to reinstatement. <br />Voting, Election Judge, and Delegates to Party Conventions Leave <br />An employee selected to serve as an election judge pursuant to Minnesota law, will be <br />allowed time off with pay for purposes of serving as an election judge, provided the <br />employee gives the city at least twenty (20 days written notice, including a certification <br />from the appointing authority stating the hourly compensation to be paid the employee <br />for service as an election judge and the hours during which the employee will serve. The <br />city may reduce the wages of an employee serving as an election judge by the amount <br />paid to the election judge by the appointing authority during the time the employee was <br />absent from the place of employment. Thus, employees will be paid the difference <br />between their pay as an election judge and their regular rate of pay for their normal <br />workday. <br />The city reserves the right to restrict the number of employees absent from work for the <br />purpose of serving as an election judge to no more than 20 percent of the total work force <br />at any single worksite. <br />All employees eligible to vote at a State general election, at an election to fill a vacancy in <br />the office of United States Senator or Representative, or in a Presidential primary, will be <br />allowed time off with pay to vote on the election day. Employees wanting to take <br />advantage of such leave are required to work with their supervisors to avoid coverage <br />issues. , Employees may be absent from work for the time necessary <br />to vote to include voting during the period allowed for voting in person before election <br />day. <br />An employee may be absent from work to attend any meeting of the state central <br />committee or executive committee of a major political party if the employee is a member <br />of the committee. The employee may attend any convention of a major political party <br />delegate, including meetings of official convention committees if the employee is a <br />delegate or an alternate delegate to that convention. <br />Per the statutory requirement, the employee must give at least ten days' written notice of <br />their planned absence to attend committee meetings or conventions. Time away from <br />work for this purpose will be considered unpaid unless the employee chooses to use <br />vacation leave or compensatory time/ RTC leave during their absence. <br />Administrative Leave <br />Under special circumstances, an employee may be placed on an administrative leave <br />pending the outcome of an internal or external investigation.
