<br /> <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br />Phone: 763.635.1000 <br />www.ElkRiverMN.gov <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Employment Agreement <br />Part-time Community Service Officer I <br /> <br />The part-time Community Service Officer I (CSO I) position is classified as a temporary, part-time <br />position and is not eligible for city health insurance or other benefits not provided by state law. <br />This position does receive paid time off benefits as a regularly scheduled part-time employee. <br />The CSO I position is a non-union position intended to provide police department experience <br />and mentorship while the employee is actively and successfully enrolled in an eligible degree <br />program culminating in Minnesota Police Officer Standards and Testing (POST) licensure as a <br />peace officer. <br />The City of Elk River intends to assist and encourage the progression of eligible employees <br />through tuition reimbursement under the following conditions. <br />1. Employment is for a defined, limited period as indicated: <br />a. The CSO I employment period is limited to three (3) years. <br />b. An extension may be considered at the chief’s discretion. Consideration will be <br />based on unforeseen or uncontrollable situations for an employee performing at or <br />above department and city expectations. <br />c. The employee is responsible for communicating schedule conflicts and degree <br />program requirements with their supervisor. <br />d. The employee serving as a CSO I is expected to be actively working toward a degree <br />in law enforcement and POST Board police officer eligibility. <br />e. Continued employment requires that the employee remain in good standing. Good <br />standing is defined as: <br />i. Meets performance standards. <br />ii. Follows department and city policies. <br />iii. Maintains good attendance. <br />iv. Exhibits professional conduct. <br />v. Has no disciplinary issues. <br /> <br />Page 52 of 379
