The Community Service Officer I (CSOI) position
is designed for students in a law enforcement degree program to provide law enforcement experience.
Because of the limited tenure of this position, an Employment Agreement is necessary.

Some of the CSO I candidates that we have had in the past have become excellent City of Elk River Police
Officers. To encourage strong officer candidates to continue working for Elk River after graduation, we've
added a tuition reimbursement component to the CSOI Employment Agreement.

Financial Impact
There is no financial impact for 2025 or 2026. Funds will be budgeted in future years to cover this expense.

Mission/Policy/Goal
The Elk River Mission Statement.

Attachments
1.
