7.0 INTERVIEWS
Carlson McCain staff interviewed individuals associated with the Site property, as well as, local
government officials regarding pertinent information to Site conditions.Where appropriate,
information from these interviews, as reported, was incorporated into the body of the report.
Otherwise, the interviews resulted in the following information:
Interviews
Name:Mr. Peter Specht
Relationship to Property:Site Owner
Comments: Mr. Specht was present for the Site reconnaissance completed on July 9, 2024 and was
interviewed at that time. Supplementary interviews were conducted on August 9, 2024 and on August
28, 2024.
He stated that one 10,000-gallon diesel UST and one 1,000-gallon gasoline UST are located near the
former bus lot. He believes the USTs are empty. Another 500-gallon gasoline UST is located near the
garage. He stated that the 500-gallon gasoline UST has been empty for approximately 20 years and
was used to fuel farm equipment.
A bus maintenance garage is located on Site but was unable to be unlocked during the Site
reconnaissance. Bus repair and maintenance was historically conducted in the garage. It has a pit for
working under busses. The pit has a floor drain that leads to a buried 55-gallon drum with holes in it.
A washout area to the northwest of the buildings was used for disposing solid waste.
Mr. Specht did not report bulk storage of pesticides/herbicides/fungicides on the Property. He stated
that in the early years of the farming operation, some weed spraying occurred. Pesticides used at the
Site were purchased in small amounts (~1-gallon). Any pesticide/herbicide mixing, loading, etc. took
place just outside the white one-story building next to the primary residence.
Fertilizer was stored in the old rail box car located next to the hay shed and was loaded into farming
equipment in that area.
Each house is serviced by its own septic system.
A water supply well is located near the buildings and is connected to various structures with buried
piping.
Relationship to Property:Fire Department
Comments:Records request sent to the City of Elk River. No records were obtained as of the
publication date of this report. If records are obtained that alter the conclusions of the report, an
amended version will be issued.
Relationship to Property:Building Department
Comments:Records request sent to the City of Elk River.
