Are the sites readily accessible to the library patrons and the community served? <br />2. Are the sites accessible over hard-surfaced roads and walks? <br />3. Are the sites centrally located for the present and anticipated user populations? <br />4. Are the sites reasonably protected from traffic and transportation dangers? <br />5. Are the sites reasonably protected from pollution? <br />6. Have the sites been developed to provide grounds with proper drainage of surface <br />water? <br />7. Are the sites reasonably free of overhead electrical transmission lines? <br />8. Do the sites provide utilities: municipal water; electrical; natural gas; telephone; <br />disposal? <br />9. Are the sites sufficiently extensive to provide for present library needs? <br />10. Are the sites sufficiently extensive to provide for future library expansion needs? <br />11 . Are the sites free from obstruction and hazards to students in route to and from site <br />areas? <br />12. Are the sites provided with walks or driveways from all exits? <br />13. Are the sites provided with suitable fencing where needed? <br />14. Do the sites include parking areas of sufficient size to meet library and city <br />requirements? <br />15. Do the sites have properly maintained or shared parking areas? <br />16. Do the sites have designated parking spaces for the physically handicapped? <br />17. Do the sites have parking areas and walkways that are well lighted for night use? <br />18. Do the sites provide adequate facilities for the physically handicapped? <br />19. Do the sites have adequate provisions for safely loading and unloading or deliveries? <br />20. Do the sites include areas for outdoor library activities? <br />21. Do the sites provide sufficient areas for meetings or other organized activities? <br /> <br />Additional discussions for criteria and categories for review have been tabulated with the option- <br />specific reviews. As a minimum, the library site must provide the connections for transportation, <br />utilities, shared programs, and maintenance. The items of continued discussion and <br />enhancement reviewed include: <br /> <br />· How accessible can the site be designed for the library patrons and the community? <br />· To what extent can the site and its surroundings be changed to provide a safe and <br />healthy environment? <br />· How extensive is the site relative to the potential for future growth? <br />· How satisfactory will be the cost of maintenance of the site? <br />· How satisfactory is the aesthetic quality of the site and can qualities be enhanced? <br />· How effectively does the site support a design specifically reflecting the library's <br />mission and purposes? <br /> <br />- 13- <br />
