Park & Recreation Commission Meeting
June 8, 1994

Page 4

build the structure. Phil Hals said that the street/Park Department will be grading
the ponding area in the near future.

.

12.2. City Tree Proqram

Phil Hals explained the City's rebate to citizens who plant trees and indicated
that the participation by residents was low (about 20 applicants), so that funds
would be available to make a similar offer in the fall.

It was the consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission that a fall program
would be appropriate.

12.3. Lakoduk Barn

Phil Hals stated that he and Dave Anderson had each been approached by
representatives of the Country Crossing development and asked if the City was
interested in purchasing and moving the Lakoduk barn. After a brief discussion, it
was the consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission members present that
they concurred with staff's recommendation not to purchase or move the
Lakoduk barn.

12.4. Lakoduk Park

Phil Hals explained that a member of the Lakoduk family had complimented the
City, and Dave Anderson in particular, for the efforts to save the trees in Country
Crossings. This family member also requested that the City consider using the
Lakoduk name for the park. After a brief discussion, it was decided to review this
issue at a future Park and Recreation Commission meeting.

.

12.5. Holzem ProDertv

Phil Hals reported that after his meeting with Mr. Pat Holzem, regarding the
purchase of 80 acres on 181 st A venue and Fillmore Street, he feels that there is
little to no hope of the City acquiring this property, and that staff should look at
other sites for open athletic fields.

12.6. City-wide ADA Insoection

Phil Hals reported that the City Administrator is considering consultant survey of all
City facilities to comply with Federal ADA regulations. Results of the survey and
recommendations for park improvements will be forwarded to this group.

Due to the late hour, it was the consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission to
adjourn the informational meeting at 11 :03 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

O~~

Phil Hals
Street/Park Superintendent

.
