To be a bridge between those who need and those who give. <br /> <br />Mission: <br /> <br />To engage men and women age 55 and better in meaningful volunteer <br />service that strengthens the well being of both self and community. <br /> <br />Services: <br /> <br />* Recruit and support volunteers - recruit, enroll, orient, place, train, <br />follow-up, recognize and support those interested in volunteering to meet <br />community needs. <br /> <br />* Meet community needs - enrich, supplement and help deliver the services <br />offered by over 155 human service agencies in the Greater St. Cloud Area <br />by matching their needs with the abilities, availability and interests of senior <br />volunteers; offer technical assistance and support to managers of volunteers <br />in non-profit agencies. <br /> <br />* Advocate for productive aging - educate communities about the <br />positive aspects of aging; identify seniors as a potential resource; dispel <br />aging stereotypes; keep older citizens involved, connected and integrated in <br />community life. <br /> <br />Impact: <br /> <br />1,245 active RSVP volunteers contributed more than 156,625 hours of <br />service, improving the quality of life for thousands of others in 2004. <br /> <br />RSVP is a federally legislated and funded program under the Corporation for National <br />and Community Service. It is supported by the Minnesota Board on Aging and has <br />been sponsored locally by the City of St. Cloud since 1973.
