<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />and applicable American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) <br />Standards shall apply. <br /> <br />9. Whenever possible, the building sewer shall be brought to <br />the building at an elevation below the basement floor. In all <br />buildings in which any building drain is too low to permit <br />gravity flow to the public sewer, such building drain shall be <br />provided with an approved lifting device for discharge to the <br />building sewer. <br /> <br />10. No person shall make connections of roof downspouts, <br />exterior foundation drains, areaway drains or other source of <br />surface runoff or groundwater to a building sewer or building <br />drain which in turn is connected directly or indirectly to a <br />public sanitary sewer. <br /> <br />11. The construction of the building sewer and its connection <br />to the public sewer shall conform to the requirements of this <br />Code, the sewer specifications included herein, all other <br />applicable rules and regulations, and the procedures set forth <br />in appropriate specifications of the Water Pollution Control <br />Federation (WPCF) Manual of Practice No. 9 and the American <br />Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). All such construction <br />shall be made gastight and watertight. Any deviation from the <br />prescribed procedures and materials must be approved by the <br />City prior to installation. <br /> <br />12. All excavations for building sewer installations shall be <br />adequately guarded with barricades and lights so as to protect <br />the public from hazards. Streets, sidewalks, parkways and <br />other public property disturbed in the course of the work shall <br />be restored in a manner satisfactory to the City. <br /> <br />13. The applicant for the building sewer permit shall notify <br />the City when the building sewer is ready for inspection and <br />connection to the public sewer. The connection and inspection <br />shall be made under the supervision of the City or authorized <br />representative thereof. <br /> <br />14. Any person desiring to make a service connection to the <br />public sewer shall comply with the conditions set forth by the <br />City. <br /> <br />15. No person shall make a service connection to the public <br />sewer until a bond to the City is filed with the PWD <br />conditioned that the person will indemnify and hold harmless <br />the City from all suits, accidents, and damage that may arise <br />by reason of any opening in any street, alley or public ground, <br />made by the person or by those in the person's employment for <br />any purpose whatsoever, and that the person will replace and <br />restore the street and alley over such opening to the condition <br />existing prior to installation, adequately guard with <br />barricades and lights and will keep and maintain the same to <br />the satisfaction of the City or its authorized representative, <br />and shall conform in all respects to the rules and regulations <br />
