<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />July 18, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Councilmember Motin stated he would not be inclined to give up the entire 60 acres in the <br />Gateway Business Center. He stated Elk River has a lack of industrial and commercial <br />development along Highway 10 but he also doesn't want to see GRE leave Elk River. <br />Ms. Mehelich stated GRE would be interested in a master plan for the Gateway Business <br />Center area. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />Jim Raivala, 441 Upland Avenue-Stated he would like approval from Council for a simple <br />plat and a variance and then he would allow the city to install a sidewalk in front of his <br />existing home. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing explained to Mr. Raivala that he would need to complete the application <br />process for a variance and a simple plat and that the Council can't give him approval at <br />tonight's meeting as the variance would need to meet certain criteria. <br /> <br />City Attorney Peter Beck stated the plat and the variance could be considered on the same <br />night. He stated the variance could be considered first and if it was denied, then the plat <br />could be withdrawn. <br /> <br />Andrew Brown, 18260 Yankton Street-Speaking for residents around the Pinewood Golf <br />Course. Mr. Brown stated concerns over the Pinewood golf course being developed into a <br />housing subdivision. He submitted a letter and the protective covenants for the <br />development. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing stated protective covenants are not enforced by the city. She encouraged the <br />developer to hold neighborhood meetings with residents. <br /> <br />Ms. McPherson stated the developer applied for a Land Use Amendment and a Preliminary <br />Plat. She explained the Land Use Amendment request. <br /> <br />Fred McCoy, Owner of McCoys Pub, 651 Main Street-Began to express concerns over <br />downtown parking but the Mayor informed him that this item would be discussed later at <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />5.1. Consider Resolution to Vacate Certain Drainage and Utility Easements-Lot 2. Block 3. <br />Hillside Estates 9th Addition. Public Hearing-Case No. EV 05-06 <br /> <br />Senior Planner Scott Harlicker submitted the staff report. Mr. Harlicker stated the applicant <br />is requesting that drainage and utility easements be vacated on Lot 1, Block 3, Hillside <br />Estates 9th Addition. Mr. Harlicker stated new easements will be created when Hillside <br />Estates 10th Addition is platted. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing opened the public hearing. There being no one to speak to this issue, Mayor <br />KJinzing closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUMPHREY TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 05-76 FOR <br />
