Authorization to Purchase Vehicle for Liquor Operations <br /> <br />Councilmember Gumphrey asked if it was premature to purchase a van for liquor <br />operations as Westbound is not completed yet and questioned why there is not enough <br />storage space being built at Westbound. He questioned if a larger storage area should have <br />been built at Westbound. <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers stated that Northbound will be considered the warehouse for <br />liquor operations as it has a large basement area for this function. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Finance and Administrative Services Director Lori] ohnson stated it was planned to buy this <br />vehicle and not have a lot of storage at the Westbound store. She stated the liquor <br />operations will be able to get bulk volume discounts on products and it would like to move <br />inventory around to the different store locations as needed. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUMPHREY TO AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A CARGO <br />VAN FROM THANE HAWKINS CHEVROLET FOR $13,783.50 PLUS CARGO <br />ACCESSORIES, TAX, AND LICENSE FEES. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />3.A. Great River Energy (GRE) Update <br /> <br />Director of Economic Development Catherine Mehelich stated GRE is planning on moving <br />and expanding their corporate offices. She stated the current Elk River offices will be <br />enlarged to become an industrial campus for GRE. She stated GRE is considering other <br />communities for its corporate offices. Ms. Mehelich stated she and the Mayor took GRE on <br />a tour of the 60 acres that are available in the Gateway Business Center. Ms. Mehelich stated <br />GRE is looking for: 1) high visibility; 2) retail and commercial amenities; 3) transportation <br />access; 4) cost of land and infrastructure; and 5) an interest in developmental control of <br />adjacent properties. She stated GRE needs approximately 30 acres for a 5 story, 175,000 sq. <br />ft. building. <br /> <br />Ms. Mehelich requested direction from Council on: 1) whether to offer GRE all 60 acres in <br />the Gateway Business Center; 2) the use of tax rebate financing; and 3) the city's <br />commitment to completing the necessary infrastructure. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing stated she would like to pursue GRE and keep them in the city. <br />
