(c) The quantities for topsoil borrow are strictly estimates and may be increased or decreased by any <br /> amount with no adjustment in unit price according to the extent of existing topsoil salvaged and <br /> other conditions revealed. <br /> B. The furnishing and installing of specific items and/or the performance of work under certain circumstances <br /> shall not be individually paid in the absence of a specific bid item for work. The costs shall be included in <br /> the unit price bid for the associated excavation items.Such items of work include but are not limited to: <br /> 1. Reclaiming existing bituminous material, mixing with underlying granular material, loading and <br /> temporarily stockpiling the mixture(unless specifically identified as a separate bid item). <br /> 2. Disposal of bituminous/aggregate reclamation material that is determined by the Engineer to be <br /> unsuitable for re-use. <br /> 3. Salvaging,separating,separately stockpiling and re-spreading topsoil material in turf areas to the <br /> depths specified or indicated on the plans. <br /> 4. Salvaging and separately stockpiling suitable aggregate base material, as determined by the Engineer. <br /> 5. Separating,salvaging,stockpiling and replacing clay borrow in roadway,structure,and embankment <br /> areas. <br /> 6. Earthwork balancing including adjustments for shrinkage loss,and excess materials resulting from the <br /> additional volume created from pipe bedding, utility pipe,and/or underground structures shall be <br /> included in the unit price bid for common excavation. <br /> 7. Protecting existing improvements and previously accepted in-process improvements from damage. <br /> 8. Protecting infiltration areas. <br /> 9. The avoidance of wetlands. <br /> 10. Subcutting the existing topsoil prior to placing embankment in all roadway, patio and trail locations. <br /> 11. Subgrade excavation,furnishing stabilizing aggregate,geotextile fabric installation,compaction, <br /> regrading and/or other efforts necessary to repair the subgrade for failing to protect the integrity of <br /> the subgrade after it has been accepted (test rolled). <br /> 12. Restoring the borrow site by grading the area to drain properly to slopes not-to-exceed 6:1 and by <br /> restoring the topsoil to a minimum thickness of 6 inches, include in the contract unit price for common <br /> borrow. <br /> 13. Shaping,stockpiling,&seeding of all disposal sites shall be included in the price bid for common <br /> excavation. <br /> 14. Gradation and compaction testing and geotechnical inspection services to meet requirements of source <br /> and field quality control, if required <br /> 1.3 SPECIFICATION REFERENCES <br /> A. MnDOT 2105 shall apply to excavation and embankment,except as modified herein. <br /> B. MnDOT 2574 shall apply to excavation and embankment,except as modified herein. <br /> C. Unless noted otherwise,the provisions in this section are in addition to the referenced specification. <br /> PART 2-- PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MATERIALS <br /> A.
