SECTION 02240-DEWATERING <br /> PART 1-- GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. This section covers the furnishing of all labor, materials,tools,equipment and performances of all work and <br /> services necessary or incidental to the dewatering of trenches as necessary to construct the elements <br /> shown on the drawings or as specified herein. <br /> 1.2 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> A. No separate payment will be made for Dewatering.The Contractor shall evaluate the need for dewatering <br /> and include such costs with associated bid items requiring dewatering. <br /> B. The furnishing and installing of specific items and/or the performance of work under certain circumstances <br /> shall not be individually paid and shall be incidental to the work. Such items of work include but are not <br /> limited to: <br /> 1. Interference of other underground structures and utilities. <br /> 2. Protection of existing improvements from damage. <br /> 1.3 SPECIFICATION REFERENCES <br /> A. MnDOT 2451.3C shall apply to the dewatering of trenches,except as modified herein. <br /> B. Unless noted otherwise,the provisions in this section are in addition to the referenced specification. <br /> PART 2-- PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MATERIALS <br /> A. None <br /> PART 3-- EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. The Contractor shall furnish and install all necessary discharge piping and obtain all permits,easements, <br /> rights-of-way,etc.to convey and discharge the water at a sufficient distance from the project area to <br /> eliminate recharge of the ground water at the project site. <br /> B. Water from dewatering operations shall not be discharged where it will pond or cause damage to cropland <br /> or personal property due to the presence of standing or flowing water. <br /> C. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits required for dewatering prior to <br /> beginning of dewatering.The Contractor shall provide a plan for the discharge showing the discharge <br /> location,energy disipation,and water quality treatment to the Engineer for approval prior to beginning <br /> discharge.The discharge rate, location,and water quality shall be in compliance with all local,State,and <br /> Federal requirements. <br /> D.
