SECTION 01350-SPECIAL PROJECT PROCEDURES
PART 1-- GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. This section covers special features of this project which may require individual attention of the Contractor
and/or the subcontractors. Descriptions contained herein are intended as a service and to prevent
oversights by the Contractor. However, the Contractor shall remain the only party liable for the
performance of all provisions included in the Contract Documents.
PART 2-- PRODUCTS(NOT USED)
PART 3-- EXECUTION(NOT USED)
3.1 CONTROLLING OPERATIONS AND CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
A. Leachate handling and landfill operations must continue uninterrupted during construction. Leachate is
currently trucked from the landfill. The tankers are loaded at the load-out slab at Tank 1. Following is a
suggested sequence of construction. Some steps can be performed in parallel with each other. The
Contractor shall evaluate this sequence and modify in accordance with planned construction operations.
The Contractor is solely responsible for the sequence of construction, subject to Owners approval, and for
maintaining all landfill operations.
B. Suggested Construction Sequence
1. Construct Lift Station 1 and forcemain from there to the Elk River connection.
2. Complete Tank 4 pumphouse modifications. Leachate Tank No.4 has roughly 6 days of storage in
which leachate hauling can be suspended for these modifications. The Owner will draw down the tank
prior to pumphouse modification work. The Contractor shall determine the duration of the
modifications so that alternate plans can be determined if longer than 6 days is required.
3. Construct forcemain between Tank 4 pumphouse and Lift Station 1.
4. Construct Lift Station 2 and make operational.
5. Reroute existing leachate lines from Tank 3 to Lift Station 2.
6. Remove Tank 3
7. Construct gravity sewer from existing MH 10 to new MH 20.
8. Reroute existing leachate lines from Tank 1 to MH 20.
9. Remove Tank 1.
**** END OF SECTION ****
Elk River Landfill, Inc. -R16.115896 SPECIAL PROJECT PROCEDURES
March 2019 PAGE 01350-1
©Bolton&Menk,Inc.2018,All Rights Reserved
