<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />March 14.2001 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER REITSMA MOVED THAT THE COMMISSION SUPPORT THE USE OF CITY <br />EQUIPMENT AND EMPLOYEES TO CONSTRUCT THE BMX TRACK, AND FOR THE CITY <br />PROVIDE THE TRASH DUMPSTER AND PORTABLE TOILETS FOR THE SITE. <br />COMMISSIONER HUBERTY SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dana Anderson asked Michele Bergh if other sport associations <br />paid a fee for the portable toilets. Ms. Bergh indicated that $2.00 of each <br />participant's fee goes toward these facilities. <br /> <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />Commissioner Peterson stated that the Park and Recreation Commission <br />previously recommended the expenditure of $2,000 for a well at the BMX site, <br />and he felt it was appropriate to recommend the additional $1 ,000 which is <br />needed. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER PETERSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND THE USE OF CITY FUNDS IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $3,000 FOR AN IRRIGATION WELL AT THE BMX SITE. COMMISSIONER <br />REITSMA SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />9.A.2. Crop Walk <br /> <br />Louise Johnson, Crop Walk Chair, explained that they plan to use Woodland Trails <br />Park parking lot for participants to start the two-mile walk on Sunday, April 29th, in <br />the afternoon. She anticipates approximately 300 people. Commissioner <br />Huberty asked if the group has made a reservation for the park. Chair Kuester <br />explained that Ms. Johnson would need to contact the Area Recreation office for <br />park reservations. Commissioner Dave Anderson asked that the organizers <br />remove and signs, benches, or rest areas that they install. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DANA ANDERSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT THE 2001 CROP WALK IN WOODLAND TRAILS PARK WITH THE <br />CONDITION THAT THE GROUP FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE FOR MAKING A <br />RESERVATION WITH AREA RECREATION. COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />9.C.1. Ga9ne Park Security <br /> <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson presented his proposal to limit access of <br />snowmobiles and 4-wheelers in Gagne Park. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER REISTMA MOVED TO RECOMMEND THAT THE CITY PROCEED WITH <br />IMPLEMENTING A PLAN FOR SECURITY MEASURES AT GAGNE PARK, WHICH <br />INCLUDES STAFF RESEARCHING TYPES OF FENCING, COSTS, ETC. AND THAT STAFF <br />USE THEIR BEST JUDGMENT TO SECURE THE PARK. COMMISSIONER PETERSON <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dana Anderson stated that he feels it is a matter of marking the <br />area as City property and educating the trespassers. <br />
