Hearinas/Neiqhborhood Discussions - None <br /> <br />7. Area Recreation Update <br /> <br />Michele Bergh brought a flyer to share on the spring programs. She noted that <br />the annual report will be available in April. There was a 27% increase in program <br />participation in 2000. They are considering an environmental program with the <br />Boys and Girls Club at Woodland Trails Park with 4 - 7 grade students. She asked if <br />staff or the Commissioners were aware of a project that may be available. <br /> <br />The Commissioners expressed their support for an environmental project. <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson will meet with Ms. Bergh and the instructor to <br />discuss possible projects. <br /> <br />8. Park Development Proqress Report <br /> <br />Phil Hals stated that the Kelley Farm will be conducting a barn workshop on <br />Saturday April 2nd. The cost is $35.00. Chair Kuester has the information and <br />brochure if any of the Commissioners are interested in attending. <br /> <br />Mr. Hals stated that plans for the barn in Trott Brook Farms Park will be available <br />at the April 11 th Park & Recreation Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Hals noted that he received a call from a resident who lives adjacent to the <br />trail between Denver and Fresno Street. expressing his support for plowing the <br />trail. <br /> <br />The mountain bike trails are closed until the spring thaw is completed. <br /> <br />9.A.1. BMX Update <br /> <br />Margo Foster, representing the BMX group, introduced Mike Weyman. Mr. <br />Weyman reviewed the following requests: <br /> <br />1. Equipment use authorization - Use of City equipment and employees to <br />construct the track. Target date of 5/5/01 to start construction, using <br />volunteers. <br /> <br />2. The City assume responsibility for trash dumpster and portable toilets. <br /> <br />3. The City provide funding to install an irrigation well for approximately <br />$3,000. <br /> <br />Phil Hals asked if the staking would include elevations and electrical service. <br /> <br />The first BMX race day is scheduled for June 9, 2001. Cheap Thrills in Ramsey has <br />donated the perimeter chain link fence. The ABA (American Bicycling <br />Association) has engineered the track to be within the safety guidelines. <br />
