Chair Stoffers also asked if there were any issues with the roof <br /> by the fireplace.Ms. Schake stated she asked staff about it and didn't hear <br /> back on any issues. Commissioner Jackson stated the Zone 2 issues no <br /> longer exist and should be removed from the zone report. <br /> 5.5. b Upholstery Items <br /> • Chair Stoffers asked for an update on the caterpillar upholstery noting <br /> she gave Colbath Upholstery Ms. Schake's business card three weeks ago. <br /> Ms. Schake stated she hadn't heard anything back yet. <br /> 5.6 City Council Report <br /> ■ Councilmember Ovall stated the council has been reviewing budgets the <br /> past few months noting Ms.Schake presented her budget report to <br /> Council at one of the meetings. He stated Councilmember Jerry Olsen <br /> commented on how much he liked the furniture and he is happy that the <br /> parking lot has been full at the library. The Council didn't have many <br /> questions about the 2019 library budget. <br /> 5.7 Patron Services Supervisors Report <br /> • Ms. Canter presented her staff report. She explained the Library Services <br /> and Technology Act grant Commissioner Eberley asked how this affects <br /> the library.Ms. Canter explained it could include staff training for <br /> conversation circles and pop up libraries at places like churches and <br /> schools to help explain library programs. She further stated the Great <br /> River Regional Library will be posted a position for a regional Bi-lingual <br /> Cultural Navigator. The training will include cultural expectations of <br /> library lending and teaching people how the library works. The grant will <br /> include training for ways to provide childcare for adult basic education <br /> and career services. Ms. Canter stated the training for staff will be <br /> helpful. Ms. Schake explained how St. Cloud is often a pioneer location <br /> for starting programs and then they spread out to other libraries. It was <br /> noted the grant is $89,653 and funding will go towards the salary of the <br /> Cultural Navigator and additional staff. There will be some staffing and <br /> some technology components. <br /> • It was noted the Collection Development used to be 60%and now is <br /> 55%,: 25% for programs,and 20%for marketing. Elk River is also <br /> spending money on popular juvenile series books and coding programs <br /> for kids. Ms. Canter stated the library can keep these programs if they <br /> keep getting donations.
