General Business
5.1 New Business
5.1. a Discussion on Replacement of Outdoor Ashtray
• Ms. Schake explained the ashtray broke during the moving process.
Currently there is no smoking in front of city buildings. She stated Tim
Sevcik,Streets and Park Maintenance Superintendent, sent her a photo
example of a new ashtray that could be purchased. Commissioner
Keifenheim asked if the"No Smoking"rule was for both building and
grounds. Commissioner Eberley stated yes. Commissioner Keifenheim
brought up that if people are smoking and walk up to the building and
there is no dispenser the person may throw the butt on the ground. Ms.
Schake stated there haven't been any complaints from patrons about
missing the ashtray. Commissioner Dreissig suggested they give it a trial
run until spring. Ms. Schake stated the approximate cost of a new
ashtray would be$400-450. Commissioner Eberley asked
Councilmember Ova11 if there was an ashtray in front of city hall. He
stated he wasn't sure. Ms. Canter stated the ashtray in the garden area at
the St. Cloud Library had people hanging out around it and the City of
St. Cloud made it a"No Smoking"zone. Ms. Schake stated she thought
city ordinance barred smoking within a certain distance of city buildings.
Councilmember Ova11 stated he believed it was in city ordinance.
Moved by Commissioner Keifenheim and seconded by Commissioner Eberley to
wait 6 months to replace the ashtray and consider if there are debris and complaints
during the time it is missing. Motion carried 5-0.
5.2 Old Business
5.2. a Update on Patio Furniture
Ms. Schake stated the replacement furniture has been installed.
Commissioner Keifenheim stated it looks great. Commissioner Dreissig
suggested waiting on purchasing a third table which had been discussed
at the last meeting. Commissioner Jackson asked if the tables are
weather proof or need to be stored in winter. Ms. Schake stated they are
weatherproof. It was noted Mr. Sevcik's staff took the old furniture to
use somewhere else or to sell. The library kept two of the old table sets,
one for the library entryway and the other at the back of the library for
staff to sit at during lunches etc.
5.3 Library Grounds Report
• No discussion.
5.4 Building Maintenance Report
■ No discussion.
5.5 Library Zones Report
vPOl ENEli 81
NATURE
