She noted the following:
Summer reading program was a success with approximately 200
participants over last year's numbers.Due to an anonymous donor they
were able to give away about 500 books. This summer library staff
participated at the farmers market and did the Brain Games program at
Guardian Angels. Staff was recently contacted by the new Elk River
Senior Living Facility. The $1,000 mini grant mentioned in Ms.Canter's
report will be spent in the STEM area. There is great participation in
those areas. Legos and snap circuit hours are STEM (Science,
Technology,Engineering, and Mathematics)related. Kids get to come in
and explore. The library provides some suggestion cards but it is mostly
imagination based. Staff noted GRRL has two new coding kits and a
Coda pillar. Commissioner Eberley asked how the library is advertising
these programs. Ms. Schake reviewed some marketing tactics, such as
fliers, website, posters,Facebook etc.As far as teens and tweens go,they
had about 500 entries in the Harry Potter trivia contest.
• The new library cards have been released. The two top winners are from
Elk River. The new cards are$1 to replace if patrons want to give up
their old bar code.
5.9 GRRL Trustee Report
There was no report
6.
