fry - 0 3 . 0 RECOMMENDATIONS The photographs referred to in this section are in Appendix A. All drawings are found in Appendix B. The surface preparation requirements for all repairs as well as the requirements for welding are described in Appendix C. The exterior and interior paint chip test results are in Appendix D. Based on an evaluation of the inspection data,the recommendations are: 3.1 Interior Wet 3.1.1 Structural Remove the existing roof painter's couplings and replace with new 3-inch diameter couplings. See photos 2 and 3. Seal weld the two (2) 26-foot long intermitted roof rafters, presently they are welded on 4"x 12" spacing and are caulked. See photos 3, 4, 5 and 6. Remove all caulking and seal weld the overlapping plate joint seam on the 26-foot diameter roof dollar plates. Also seal weld the 10 feet of the butt joint seam. See photos 7 and 8. Remove all caulking and seal weld the overlapping dollar plate joint seam onto the roof plates and the 36-foot diameter roof plates to the shell plates. This joint is 26- foot diameter. See photo 8. Remove the collar around the 42-inch diameter drywell tube and 6 to 8-inches of the dollar plate. Remove all welded spacers on the drywell tube. Install a 'A-inch thick plate over the opening and seal weld both interior and exterior to the drywell tube and roof plates. See photos 8, 9, 10 and 40. Remove the existing ladder to the drywell tube exterior, it has been damaged from ice. Install an OSHA compliant ladder and safety cable to the exterior of the drywell tube. There are approximately 50 severe corrosion pitting that may require pit welding and grinding. See photos 11 and 12. Replace the 18 x 24-inch oval manway gasket located in the bottom section of the drywell tube and the 24-inch round manway gasket in the tower bowl plates. 6 133
