<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />February 17, 1981 <br />Page Two <br /> <br />experienced by the City caused by the Burlington Northern line, and further <br />indicated that the proposed improvements would be at the expense of the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation. The City Administrator indicated that the items <br />recommended by the consultant that would require the City of Elk River's approval <br />involved the removal of two angle parking spaces on southbound Jackson Street, <br />and the removal of parallel parking spaces on northbound Jackson Street. The <br />City Administrator indicated that it was his recommendation that item 6 & 7 on <br />the memorandum from Barton-Aschman Associates be amended to allow parking on the <br />north side of Highway #10, east of the depot, to allow for large trucks to use <br />the Crossroads Cafe. The City Administrator further indicated that it was his <br />recommendation that the City Council request directional signing to be erected <br />at the same time the improvements to the Jackson and Highway #10 intersection are <br />made. COUNCILMAN DUITSMAN MOVED APPROVAL OF THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE IMPROVEMENTS <br />SUGGESTED.TN.THE BARTON-ASCHMANN.MEMORANDUM.TO.THE.INTERSECTION.OF JACKSON AND <br />HIGHWAY #10, WITH. THE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT. PARKING BE ALLOWED.ON THE NORTH SIDE <br />OF HIGHWAY #10, EAST.OF.THE.BURLINGTON.NORTHERN.DEPOT,.THAT DIRECTIONAL SIGNING BE <br />ERECTED AT THE INTERSECTION OF JACKSON AND HIGHWAY #10, THAT CITY STAFF ERECT <br />"NO PARKING" SIGNS ON THE EAST SIDE OF JACKSON AVENUE SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 1110 AND TO <br />ELIMINATE THE TWO ANGLE SPACES ON THE WEST SIDE OF JACKSON AVENUE. Consider Beautification Committee Appointment <br /> <br />Councilman Toth did not have an appointment to the Beautification Committee at <br />this time. <br /> <br />9. Consider DNR Hydr6Electric Feasibility Study <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the expense of $2,170 for the City's share <br />of a feasibility study for hydro electric power at the Orono Dam does not seem to <br />be in the City's best interests at this time, as the site, at best, is still in <br />the marginal category for hydro electric purposes. The City Administrator <br />recommended that the City Council direct City Staff to communicate the City's lack <br />of interest in the hydro electric feasibility study for the Orono Dam to the <br />Department of Natural Resources. American Legion Gambling.License Renewal <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN DUITSMAN MOVED APPROVAL OF THE AMERICAN LEGION GAMBLING LICENSE. <br />COUNCILMAN TOTHSECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />11. Deleted <br /> <br />12. Administrator's Update <br /> <br />A. Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Bids <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that an addendum was sent out, regarding the <br />sanitary sewer interceptor plans and specifications to include requirements of the <br />Farmer's Home Administration, and therefore, the bids will be opened Friday, <br />February 20, 1981, and further indicated that there would be a meeting of the <br />Sewer Interceptor Committee at the City Hall on Monday, February 23, 1981, at <br />7:30 p.m. <br />
