SWANSON OF 13651 HIGHWAY =!F10. COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />11. Warren Reque$t for Variance- Public Hearing <br /> <br />Councilmember Engstrom indicated that Mr. Ray Warren of 19540 Tyler Street has request- <br />ed a variance to permit the construction of a metal-skinned building in an R-lA zone. <br />Councilmember Engstrom further indicated that the variance request is made to allow <br />the building of a metal-skinned building a distance of 300 feet from a residence to the <br />south of the property and 426 from a residence to the north of the property. Council- <br />member Engstrom indicated that the Planning Commission reviewed Mr. Warren's request <br />and found that the necessary variance standards could be met and therefore, unanimously <br />recommended that the City Council grant a variance. <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the proposed use of the building. Mr. Warren <br />indicated that he proposed to the use the building for crops and equipment storage. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM MOVED TO GRANT THE SETBACK VARIANCE REQUESTED BY MR. RAY <br />WARREN TO ALLOW MR. WARREN TO CONSTRUCT A METAL-SKINNED BUILDING ON HIS PROPERTY AND TO <br />RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALLOW THE CITY'S BUILDING AND ZONING ADMINISTRATOR TO REQUIRE SOME <br />MINIMAL LANDSCAPING, SHOULD IT BE NECESSARY. COUNCILMEMBER DUITSMAN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />12. Nagorski Request for Variance-Public Hearing <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated that Mr. Ted Nakorski of 12812 189th Avenue NW, has <br />requested a variance to allow him to keep a deck attached to his home which encroaches <br />on the required setback. Councilmember Schuldt indicated that Mr. Nagorski's <br />property is on a corner lot, therefore, requiring two front yard setbacks. Council- <br />member Schuldt indicated that in the staff's review of Mr. Nagorski's request for a <br />variance, the City staff determined that there was no other available option for the <br />deck. <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mr. Rick Breezee. Building and Zoning Administrator, indicated that in his rev~ew <br />of the property, it was determined that there is no other logical site for the deck <br />as the western side of the property is the site of the septic system and the rear of <br />the property contains the well. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE THE VARIANCE REQUESTED BY MR. TED NAGORSKI OF <br />12812 189th Avenue TO ENCROACH BY TEN (10) FEET ONTO A REQUIRED FRONT YARD SETBACK <br />REQUIREMENT. COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />Omitt Request for Variance-Public Hearing <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that Mr. TonyOmitt of 20727 Ulysses Street has <br />requested a variance to permit an addition to an existing metal-skinned structure <br />located on the front yard of his property in the Heavenly Hills Addition. The City <br />Administrator indicated that Mr. Omitt has added a 16 by 26 foot addition to the <br />existing metal-skinned building and therefore requires a variance as the building is <br />126 feet from his neighbor's residence.
