WALTER PIWOWAR'S REQUEST FOR A ZONE CHANGE <br />FOR THE PROPERTY AT 527 TIPTON FROM ANR-lc/SINGLE FAMILY CLASSIFICATION TO AN R-3/ <br />MULTIPLE FAMILY CLASSIFICATION. COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />6. Jarmoluk Request for Zone Change - Public Hearing <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that Mr. Tony Jarmoluk has requested a zone change <br />for property at 1547 Main Street from the current classification of R-lc/Single <br />Family Residential to R-2/Two Family ResidentiaL The City Administrator indicated <br />that the Planning Commission has considered Mr. Jarmoluk's request with a 4-1 vote. <br />The City Administrator further indicated that the Staff finds the request for the <br />property consistent with the City's Land Use Map and that the use proposed for the <br />property will be compatiule with the area given the particular site and situation <br />of the surrounding roads. <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Johnson expressed his opposition to the .rezoning of the property at 1547 <br />Main Street. <br /> <br />Ms. Evelyn McGibbon indicated that she felt it was a single family dwelling area, and <br />was in opposition to the R-2 zoning. Ms. McGibbon indicated that she felt the re- <br />zoning of the area would set a precedent for other lots in the area. <br /> <br />Mr. Thomas indicated that he could not see the compatibility of the area with R-2 <br />zoning. <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the zoning of the area a number of years ago <br />as compared to the current rezone request from single family to R-2 zon~ The City <br />Administrator indicated that land use and zoning requirements are for the specific <br />property and designed for the best use of the property. Discussion was carried on <br />regarding the positioning of the buildings on the property and the position of a <br />driveway to the property. The City Administrator indicated that this would be con- <br />sidered by the Building and Zoning Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gunkel indicated that she felt the specific location was a good tran~' <br />sition location and would fit well with the rest of the area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated that he felt in these changing times, the two-family <br />dwelling or R-2 zoning would be compatible with the single family zoning and further <br />indicated that he would not be in favor of an R-3 zone. <br /> <br />Councilmember Engstrom indicated tha he felt an R-2 zone would be suitable for the <br />community and the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle closed the public hearing. <br />
