<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />June 20, 1983 <br />Page Three <br /> <br />State would be involved in the sewage system requirements. <br /> <br />Mr. Wally Nystrom suggested that the City Council compare with other states, <br />the campground concept proposed by Great Outdoor American Adventure Company. <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the type of recreational activities that <br />would be associated with the campground. Mr. Abraham asked that the City <br />Council request an environmental impact statement before approving the camp- <br />ground facility. Mr. Roger Page expressed his concern of traffic on County <br />Road 30. Discussion was carried on regarding the need of an environmental <br />impact study. Discussion was also carried on regarding the number of years a <br />conditional use permit would be issued. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gunkel indicated that she felt the City should investigate other <br />states and communities that have this type of campground facility within their <br />jurisdiction. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that a letter from Mary Ray expressing her <br />opposition to the expansion of the campground was received. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DUITSMAN MOVED TO CONTINUE THE PUBLIC HEARING UNTIL MORE IN- <br />FORMATION CAN BE OBTAINED REGARDING THE REZONE REQUEST AND THE CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT REQUEST BY GREAT OUTDOOR AMERICAN ADVENTURE COMPANY. COUNCILMEMBER <br />ENGSTROM SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />5k <br />2. <br /> <br />Downtown Parking Lot <br /> <br />Mr. Phil Hals, Street Superintendent, presented a proposal to the City Council <br />regarding the improvement of the downtown parking lot. Mr. Phil Hals suggested <br />that the City Council authorize the Street Department to build a blacktop curb <br />along the edge of the downtown parking lot, and then fill with blacktop from <br />the edge of that curb to the street curb, allowing for concrete curb around the <br />trees. Mr. Hals indicated that the cost would be approximately $690 for material. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL AUTHORIZED THE STREET DEPARTMENT TO PROCEED WITH THE IMPROVE- <br />MENT OF THE DOWNTOWN PARKING AREA AS RECOMMENDED. COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE. MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />6. Lindquist Variance Request - Public Hearing <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that Mr. Richard Lindquist of 13504 l79th <br />Avenue Northwest has requested a variance from the City's sideyard setback <br />requirement. The City Administrator further indicated that Mr. Lindquist's <br />request will allow him to build a slightly larger garage at the same setback <br />level of a current building now existing on Mr. Lindquist's property. The City <br />Administrator indicated that Mr. Lindquist originally purchased his lot with an <br />existing 10 foot setback requirement and that the City has subsequently changed <br />the ordinance to a 20 foot setback. The City Administrator further indicated <br />that it is recommended that the City Council grant the variance request by Mr. <br />Lindquist. <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lakoduk questioned the requirement of a 10 foot sideyard setback. The City <br />Administrator explained the City's Zoning Ordinance. <br />
