Parking and Sidewalk on Lowell <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that the staff be authorized to <br />work with the property owners at Lowell regarding a sidewalk for <br />pedestrian traffic. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION <br />TO RESOLVE THE PARKING PROBLEM ON LOWELL SOUTH OF MAIN STREET. <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 3-0. <br /> <br />5. Consider Mn/DOT Recommendations for Traffic Control on Tyler Street <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MOVED TO IMPLEMENT THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF MN/DOT <br />DATED 10/27/86 AS PROPOSED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ON TYLER STREET AND ALSO <br />TO IMPLEMENT THE POLICE CHIEF'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SIGNAGE AS PER HIS <br />MEMO TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 3-0. <br /> <br />It was the consensus that some type of notification be made to the <br />residents in the Tyler STreet area regarding the new speed zone such as a <br />letter or notice in the paper. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Resolution Regarding Purchase of Telephone System <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Lori Johnson reviewed quotations from the various telephone equipment <br />companies which were submitted. Ms. Johnson stated that the purchase <br />would be made using 1987 equipment certificates. She further stated that <br />staff recommends purchasing the Kanda phone system by United Telephone <br />Systems at a cost of $14.450 which includes equipment for the public <br />works. police. administration. police department paging. and security <br />door system. <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding a backup battery system. Ms. Johnson <br />stated that a backup battery pack for the whole city facility system will <br />be included. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 86-83. A RESOLUTION <br />REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF A TELEPHONE SYSTEM. MAYOR HINKLE SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />7. Leasing of Existing City Hall <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that they are interested in <br />acqu1r1ng tenants to lease the existing City Hall space for low traffic <br />office type uses. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Further. it was the consensus that uses such as liquor establishments. <br />bookstores and audio/visual stores are inappropriate uses to be located <br />in city hall facilities. <br />
