<br />Page 9 <br /> <br />City Council Meeting <br />August 3. 1987 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel questioned whether or not financial statements were <br />required for this operation and Klaers stated that such an operation <br />is very closely regulated. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmgren questioned whether or not Elk River has an <br />entertainment tax. which they do not and then discussed the <br />contests at Broadway Bar and Pizza. Discussion on the Liquor <br />license fee was also held. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers then discussed comparable worth wi~h the Council and <br />stated that he hoped to have it done by August 1. 1987 which did not <br />happen. <br /> <br />Klaers stated that it would be appropriate if no less than one-third <br />of what the Council determines to be the total comparable worth <br />financial adjustment be given retroactive to August 1. 1987. This <br />informs the employees that the City was serious about having <br />something done by August 1. 1987 but did not meet this date. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE THE REQUEST THAT NO'l' LISS <br />THAN ONE-THIRD OF WHAT THE COUNCIL DETERMINES TO BE THE 'l'O'l'AL <br />COMPARABLE WORTH. FINANCIAL ADJUSTMENT BE GIVEN TO EMPLOYEES <br />RETROACTIVE AUGUST 1.. 1987. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Pat Klaers stated that the City Attorney is recommending that the <br />Council designate a Councilmember to be liaison between Staff ~nd <br />Council regarding landfill activities. Matters that would be <br />involved would be the mobile home office. the increase in fees and <br />compliance to the City Solid Waste Ordinance. Councilmember Dobel <br />volunteered to take on the duty. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers informed the City Council that Danille <br />Recording Secretary. has put in her resignation. <br /> <br />Mathison. <br /> <br />9. Check Register <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE CHECK REGISTER. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />10. Other Business <br /> <br />10.1 Councilmember Holmgren <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmgren discussed the Rec Board and the <br />Softball Association with the Council. Holmgren recommended <br />that the Council take action to have the Elk River Recreation <br />Board become more active as the City grows. developes and has <br />more park and recreation needs/demands. <br /> <br />e <br />
