<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />April 27. 1987 <br /> <br />Memo Regarding Data Card Corporation <br /> <br />Richard Gongoll addressed a letter received from Data Card Corporation <br />which included its building specifications and an invitation to the City <br />to view its plant in Minnetonka. Discussion was held regarding the type <br />of financing Data Card is leaning towards for its building. which is <br />leasing. and how soon occupancy in Elk River would take place if they were <br />to choose this location. <br /> <br />Letter From Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />Duane Kropuenske addressed a letter which he had written to Pat Klaers <br />regarding the hiring of clerical staff to assist Jackie Schuelein in the <br />Chamber's office. Pat Klaers discussed the concept of this clerical <br />person being combined with the City to solve some staffing problems <br />related to requests for economic development information. <br /> <br />Opinions were then shared by the Council and the Representatives present <br />as to who they favor as an Economic Development Consultant and their views <br />about adding a clerical person to assist City and Chamber. It was the <br />general consensus of the group that the marketing of Elk River was <br />currently the City's most pressing economic development need. As such. it <br />was understood that Mr. Mulrooney. from BDS. Inc.. best met the City's <br />needs at this time. Sidney Inman will be kept in mind as a possibility to <br />contract with for negotiations between the City and new industries. It <br />was also the concensus of the group that additional City economic <br />development staff and Chamber clerical staff is needed. <br /> <br />Additional discussion will take place at the June 1st City Council <br />meeting. This item will be on the agenda for 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />5. Discussion on Miscellaneous Items <br /> <br />5.1 Old City Hall <br /> <br />Klaers informed the Council that the Sherburne County Attorney's Office <br />has made no decision about the renting of old City Hall. <br /> <br />The site <br />Jackson <br />Council. <br /> <br />of the future long term City Hall was discussed and the site of <br />and School Street was discussed in a favorable manner by the <br /> <br />5.2 City Pins <br /> <br />Various designs and costs of City Pins were discussed and it was decided <br />to stay with similar pins the City currently uses. Staff will be trying <br />to locate where the existing pins were originally ordered. <br />
