Street Superintendent. gave a brief update on the progress of <br />the public works building. Mr. Hals stated the building was near <br />completion. Discussion was then held regarding an open house for the <br />building. Some ideas were discussed but no decision was made. It was <br />the consensus that it would be further discussed at the January 26. <br />meeting. <br /> <br />5.4. Fire Chief - Review of Specifications for Water Tanker Truck <br /> <br />Fire Chief. Russ Anderson explained that the City Council approved the <br />purchase of a tanker truck in May of 1986 with the stipulation that the <br />City Council review the plans and specifications. The Council at this <br />time reviewed the plans and specifications for the Tanker Truck. Mr. <br />Anderson explained that he has found that in order to get a short wheel <br />base for beter mobility and better turning radius. he had to go with a <br />diesel engine as opposed to a gas engine. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL MOVED TO ACCEPT THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT TANKER TRUCK. COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />cOUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED <br />BID S FOR A TANKER TRUCK. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />TO AUTHORIZE THE FIRE CHIEF TO GO OUT FOR <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE USE OF EQUIPMENT CERTIFICATES <br />TO PAY FOR THE TANKER TRUCK. COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.5. City Hall Contract <br /> <br />The City Administrator noted that due to the fact that governmental <br />leased property is taxable. Staff feels it is in the best interest of the <br />City to enter into a contract for deed to purchase the building as <br />opposed to leasing. He stated that the City will retain the economics of <br />the leasing agreement yet will have the options of selling the building <br />on the open market and making a profit in 3 to 5 years or selling the <br />building back to the original owners at the original price. He further <br />noted that he felt after a four year period the benefit to the taxpayers <br />would be about $50.000. <br /> <br />cOUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR DEED AGREEMENT TO <br />PURCHASE THE BUILDING AT 720 DODGE AVENUE AS RECOMMENDED BY STAFF. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-l. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN OPPOSED. <br /> <br />e <br />
