South of Highway 10 between between the Court House and Waco <br />Street as a POD. Mr. Wilson indicated that this property is proposed to <br />be zoned as industrial according to the Growth Management Plan. A POD <br />would assure that the allowed uses would be compatible with the area. <br /> <br />Mary Jude - 11083 191st Ave NW <br /> <br />Ms. Jude voiced her concerns regarding traffic and schools being over <br />crowded. She also indicated that the stop light at Highway 169 and <br />School Street is too short and is a danger to children on bikes. <br /> <br />Sue Lakoduk - 13407 Mississippi Road <br /> <br />Questioned whether she could sell 20 or 30 acres in order to pay for the <br />future sewer and water interceptors. <br /> <br />Jerry Claima - 11102 191st Ave NW <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Questioned whether someone was requesting the area to be rezoned. or was <br />the City rezoning the property in order to allow certain types of <br />development in the area. Mr. Claima also commented on the shortness of <br />stop light at Highway 169 and School Street. <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel indicated that Deerfield 3rd was zoned as a POD so the City <br />could digress from the strict zoning regulations in the area yet allow it <br />to develop. Mayor Gunkel indicated that the area along Highway 169 would <br />not be a strip commercial area in nature as there would be a road off of <br />Highway 169 leading to the businesses. <br /> <br />Councilmember Tralle stated that Elk River is one of the fastest growing <br />cities in the State of Minnesota and population is projected to double by <br />the turn of the century. He stated that Elk River must devise a plan to <br />match this projected growth. <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel closed the public hearing at this time. <br /> <br />The Council recessed at 9:00 p.m. and reconvened at 9:07 p.m. <br /> <br />The Council and Staff. at this time. attempted to answer all questions <br />which were addressed to the Council during the public hearing. <br /> <br />Counci1member Schuldt indicated that the Growth Management Plan is not <br />permanent and will change in the future. He further indicated that the <br />plan is a guide for the City. Mr. Schuldt urged the people to watch the <br />newspaper and attend public hearings for requests that will affect their <br />property. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO TABLE ACTION ON THE GROWTH MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />UNTIL A FINAL PLAN HAS BEEN PREPARED WHICH' INCLUDES' THE. FOLLOWING CHANGES <br />AND CORRECTIONS: . <br /> <br />1, THAT A STATEMENT ON FAIR HOUSING BE ADDED TO THE PLAN TO HELP IN <br />FUTURE GRANT APPLICATIONS. <br />
