Purchase of Additional Computer Equipment <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle indicated that the Finance Director is requesting two <br />terminals which would be hooked up to the new IBM computer system. The <br />City Administrator indicated that the money for these two screens is in <br />the 1989 budget as future reserves. <br /> <br />COUNCILMBMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF TWO SCREENS FOR <br />$2.630.80 WITH THE MONIES TO COME FROM PLANNED RESERVES WITHIN THE 1989 <br />BUDGET. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED <br />4-0. <br /> <br />5.5. Chamber of Commerce Sign Request <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Jackie Schuelein. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President.was <br />present to discuss the matter of signs for Non-profit Clubs and <br />Organizations. she indicated that the proposed signs would be made-up of <br />individual logos of each organization. Ms. Schuelein indicated that the <br />location of the signs being requested is one at the old City Hall site <br />adjacent to the "Welcome to Elk River" sign and one on city property <br />adjacent to Orono Park. Ms. Schuelein indicated the Chamber is <br />requesting permission from the City to locate both signs on city <br />property. if both areas are indeed owned by the City. and further that <br />they are requesting that the cost of the lighting of the signs be paid <br />for by the City or the Elk River Municipal Utilities. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO AUTHORIZE PLACEMENT OF THE TWO CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE ELK RIVER LOGO SIGNS ON CITY PROPERTY AT THE SITES REQUESTED AND <br />FURTHER THAT THE CITY PAY THE EXPENSE OF THE LIGHTING FOR THE SIGNS AND <br />ALSO THAT THE SIGN PERMIT FEE BE WAIVED. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.6. Electrical Bids for Street Garage Addition <br /> <br />Phil Hals indicated to the Council that he had no information at this <br />time regarding the electrical bids. He indicated that he would be before <br />the the Council at a future meeting to request approval of the electrical <br />bids. <br /> <br />6. Sidewalk Update/Phil Hals <br /> <br />Phil Hals. Street Superintendent. indicated that there are many sidewalks <br />in the old city area that are in need of repair. He indicated that the <br />type of repair that he is suggesting at the present time would be a <br />temporary or "band aid" approach until next year. He indicated that by <br />repairing the sidewalks he would hopefully be eliminating a great deal of <br />liability for the property owners and the City. Mr. Hals indicated that <br />next year he would be approaching both the citizens and the Council with <br />a sidewalk rehabilitation project. <br /> <br />e <br />
