<br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Elk River City Council Minutes <br />June 5. 1989 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The Council discussed the possibility of appointing a new Planning <br />Commission member to fill Nick Olsen's term which would expire on <br />December 31. 1989. The City Administrator requested that staff have the <br />opportunity to review the composition of the current Planning Commission <br />in regards to the Wards being represented before an appointment is made <br />by Council. <br /> <br />The City Administrator distributed a letter that he had received from <br />Alice Swanson regarding the Karst operation. He indicated that the <br />letter would be kept on file. The City Administrator stated that the <br />property in question is being worked on by the City Building and Zoning <br />Administrator and indicated to the Council that staff would respond to <br />the letter. <br /> <br />6. Consider Stop Sign Request <br /> <br />The City <br />memo to <br />lived in <br />at the <br /> <br />Administrator indicated that the Police Chief had submitted a <br />the Council indicating that there was a request by citizens who <br />the area of Tipton Avenue and Upland Avenue to erect a stop sign <br />corner of Tipton Avenue at its intersection with Upland Avenue. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE PLACEMENT OF A STOP SIGN AT <br />THE CORNER OF TIPTON AVENUE AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH UPLAND AVENUE. <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Fire Truck and Building Update-Fire Chief <br /> <br />Russ Anderson. Fire Chief. updated the City Council on the progress of <br />the Fire Department expansion and the purchase of the aerial ladder <br />truck. He indicated that there would be a meeting this week regarding <br />the final draft of the building plans for the Fire Department expansion <br />and that they will be opening bids on July 11. 1989 for this <br />proj ect. <br /> <br />The City Administrator requested that the City be allowed to record the <br />conditional use permit granted by the City Council to allow the <br />construction of a new addition to the existing Fire Station even though <br />the easement has not been obtained. He indicated that without the <br />recording of the conditional use permit. construction could not be <br />started on the addition. It was the consensus of the City Council to <br />record the conditional use permit without the easement from the County <br />being obtained. <br /> <br />The Fire Chief informed the Council of a June 22. joint meeting with the <br />Fire Department and the City Council. <br /> <br />OOYNCILMiMDER HOLMGUN MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING WITH THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT AND CITY COUNCIL TO BE HELD AT THE FIRE STATION JUNE 22. 1989. <br />AT 7: 00 P.M. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />e <br />
