City Council Minutes June 11, 1990 Page 3 e 3.2 Fire Chief Russ Anderson, Fire Chief, requested authorization to purchase four hand held portable radios for the aerial ladder truck. He indicated that the total cost of the radios and related equipment would be $4,653. He further stated that this money would come from the remainder of the bond referendum. Mr. Anderson also stated that he is requesting authorization to purchase two 10' lengths of flex hose for drafting water from dump tanks to the aerial truck. He stated that the cost of the hose would be $510 each with a total of $1,020 and further indicated that the money would also come from the fire equipment bond balance. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO PURCHASE THE RADIOS FOR THE AERIAL LADDER TRUCK AT A COST OF $4,653, AND ALSO TO PURCHASE THE TWO 10' LENGTHS OF FLEX HOSE AT A COST OF $1,020 WITH THE MONEY TO COME FROM THE FIRE EQUIPMENT BOND BADANCE. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. e The City Administrator indicated that the Fire Department is requesting authorization for payment of equipment already received and approved by the Council for the Fire Department. He indicated that the payment would be made to Valley View Association and the total cost of the equipment was $5,266. The Fire Chief stated that the total amount of this equipment was donated by the Legion and the money is in the Fire Department Reserve. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO AUTHORIZE PAYMENT TO VALLEY VIEW ASSOCIATES FOR $5,266. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 4. Stephanie Klinzin~/County Mappin~ System Stephanie Klinzing, County Commissioner introduced Galen Willis of Sherburne County. She indicated that Mr. Willis is the head of the mapping and information department of Sherburne County and that he was here to provide information to the City Council regarding a GIS Mapping System. Mr. Willis reviewed with the Council the process the County would be taking regarding the GIS Mapping System. Stephanie Klinzing indicated that the County has committed to this system and that Elk River would be the first area that the County would start with. She stated that the cost for the system would be 1.5 million dollars which was the initial cost for the base map, survey and computer hardware and software. tit Discussion was held regarding the details of the mapping in regard to the contour of the land. Stephanie Klinzing indicated that the City would possibly have to pay for a lower flight if they would be requesting greater details in the contour and indicated that it would be possible to get the greater details.
