<br />City Council Minutes <br />February 3, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Council commended Phil Hals and the street Department employees for <br />the job they do and especially for the money they save the City by <br />building their own equipment. <br /> <br />5.1. Consider Bids for Purchase of 4 X4 Truck <br /> <br />Phil Ha1s explained that bids were opened on Monday for the purchase of <br />a 4 X 4 cab and chassis truck. He indicated that the City received <br />only one bid from Elk River Ford at $18,452. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ACCEPT THE BID FROM ELK RIVER FORD FOR <br />A 1992 F350 4 X 4 CAB AND CHASSIS AT $18,452. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.2. Consider Sale of Asplund Brush Chipper <br /> <br />Phil Hals indicated that he has put an ad in the Elk River Star News <br />for the sale of an Asplund brush chipper but has received no quotes for <br />the chipper. He requested permission to advertise in the Minneapolis <br />Star and Tribune. It was the consensus of the Council to authorize the <br />Street Superintendent to advertise for the sale of an Asplund brush <br />chipper in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Administration Department Annual Report/Sandy Thackeray <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Sandy Thackeray, City Clerk, reviewed the Administration Annual <br />Report. She informed the Council that Brenda Ebner and Alice Heinecke <br />were invited to attend the meeting because much of the work described <br />in the Annual Report is completed by Brenda and Alice. The City Clerk <br />explained the duties and responsibilities of the Administration <br />Department. She further reviewed some statistics regarding licenses <br />and Council meetings. The City Clerk reviewed some of the <br />accomplishments that have taken place in 1991 and further informed the <br />Council of future projects which will be taking place in 1992. The <br />City Clerk explained the the Administration office runs very <br />efficiently considering the enormous work load and thanked Brenda Ebner <br />and Alice Heinecke for their efficiency and dedication. <br /> <br />7.1. Consider Request for Speed Study by Police Chief <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the Police Chief has received <br />numerous complaints from citizens who live in the area of County Road <br />30 and Denver Street regarding the speed limit. He stated that because <br />of these complaints, the Police Chief is submitting a resolution to <br />request Sherburne County to request the Commissioner of Transportation <br />to do a speed study of this area. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 92-04, A RESOLUTION <br />REQUESTING SHERBURNE COUNTY TO REQUEST THE COMMISSIONER OF <br />TRANSPORTATION TO STUDY CERTAIN ROADS IN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
