SECONDARY <br /> The City of Elk River received positive press from the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2015 <br /> for an article on Energy City and its 10-year Action Plan. The article references Energy City's <br /> history and Energy City Commission members, who mentioned Energy City's change of focus <br /> from exclusively energy initiatives to sustainability and the City of Elk River's demonstration sites <br /> (Nelson, 2015). <br /> ENERGY CITY INITIATIVES <br /> The City of Elk River, as advised by the Energy City Commission, promotes Energy City <br /> through other initiatives, including tours of the demonstration sites, rebates and grants, <br /> SustainER, and the GreenStep Cities program (Energy City, 2016). Typically, the City of Elk River <br /> promotes these initiatives through a quarterly newsletter and on social media, primarily the <br /> Energy City Facebook page. <br /> First, the City of Elk River as Energy City organizes tours for City of Elk River residents, <br /> schools,business, and other local, national, and global city leaders. These tours consist of the City <br /> of Elk River's 20 demonstration sites,including: <br /> 1. Great River Energy; <br /> 2. City of Elk River Landfill; <br /> 3. Wind Energy Project(Vestal V47); <br /> 4. Haubenschild Farm; <br /> S. City of Elk River Library; and <br /> 6.
