<br />City Council Minutes <br />October 9, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing opened the public hearing. There being no one for or against the <br />matter, Mayor Klinzing closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 00-85 APPROVING A TAX <br />RATE INCREASE FOR THE 2000 TAX RATE LEVY, COLLECTIBLE IN 2001. <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTlN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4.2. Consider Duckor & Associates, Inc. Proposal for Communication Strateov and <br />Brand Plan <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that he has requested a proposal for <br />Communication Strategy and Brand (symbol/logo) Plan from Anita Duckor and <br />Associates. He explained that this is an important part of the Industrial Marketing <br />Plan that deals with communication, promotion, and advertisement. Anita <br />Duckor gave a brief presentation of her proposal. She introduced Tammy Miller <br />who will work with her in the design of the City logo. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the EDA approved the proposal and <br />authorized payment of 25% of the cost by the EDA. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE COMMUNICATION <br />STRATEGY AND BRAND PLAN FROM DUCKOR AND ASSOCIATES, INC. AND THAT THE <br />EDA FINANCE 25% OF THIS PROJECT AND THE CITY FINANCE 75% OF THE PROJECT <br />WITH CONTINGENCY FUNDS. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4.3. <br /> <br />Consider Rivers of Hope Fundino Reouest <br /> <br />The City Administrator stated that the River's of Hope are requesting a donation <br />of $7,319.60 from the City. He stated that in the past the city has donated $5,000 <br />in 1997, $2,000 in 1998, and $3,000 in 1999. <br /> <br />Julie Levos, president of the River's of Hope gave a brief presentation explaining <br />the seNices and the need for requesting funding. <br /> <br />Council member Motin indicated that he did not feel comfortable making such a <br />sizeable donation as the city does not make these types of donations to other <br />organizations and charities. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO GIVE $3,000 TO RIVERS OF HOPE FOR THE <br />YEAR 2000. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber indicated that the request for $7,000 should be granted <br />as the organization fills a great need in the community. <br /> <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />e <br />
