A-322

C. Use of Elk River Council Chambers for Board Meetings

School Board members will be asked to approve an agreement, if available, with
the City of Elk River regarding the use of the Council Chambers for School Board
meetings.

At the last meeting, the School Board passed a resolution to hold the Board
meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Elk
River City Hall. The Economic Development Authority meets in the Council
Chambers on the second Monday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and
sometimes longer. This would be a conflict for a 6:30 start to the School Board
Meetings.

Board members will be asked to consider whether they would like the meeting to
start at 7 p.m. Another option to consider would be to have the regular business
meeting on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Elk River Council
Chambers and have the work session on the second Monday of the month at
6:30 p.m. at the Educational Technology Center.

D. Board Discipline Policy

Recommend the School Board approve the Board Discipline Policy as
presented on A-328.

E. Architect Contract for Handke Family Center

Recommend the School District enter into a contract with Lunning/Wende/
BVH Architects of St. Paul for predesign/programming and master planning
for the Handke Family Center, at a fee of $32,500, plus reimbursables not to
exceed $1,500, for a total not to exceed $34,000.

Funds for this work will come out of the approximately $1.4 million available for
Phase 1 work (which includes the $500,000 state grant). Outcomes of this work
will include a building program for anticipated activities and concept spatial
diagram; a master plan document incorporating program, concept plans and an
outline of anticipated improvements; phasing diagram and schedule; and cost
estimate relating to the master plan.

A memo from Charlie Blesener describing the selection process, etc., is included
on A-329/331.
