“I want to say a BIG “THANK-YOU” to you and all at Spohn Ranch, Inc. who helped to build the Lathrop Skate
Park. We have been open for over a week now and everyone, skaters, kids, parents, neighbors City council
members, community members and recreation staff from other cities say we have one of the ‘sickest’ parks in
the Central Valley! The skaters who make up the Lathrop Skatepark Committee are filled with pride because of
what they have succeeded in doing – bringing a great skate park to our town.
Your staff helped to make critical improvements to Site Design Group’s initial design, which not only saved the
City of Lathrop valuable CIP funds but also made the park a better, more fun and safer place to play. I also
have to compliment Damon Spohn and his crew, Mike Villalvazo, Joe Wagner, Michael Wiley and other staff
that worked so hard to build our park in very difficult conditions. We had the hottest two weeks of the year
and Damon and his crew worked long hours in grueling conditions often exceeding 100 degrees.
The craftsmanship is excellent and almost everyone asks’ “who built this park?” Luckily, and with great pride, I
get to respond, “Spohn Ranch built our park!” Skaters give me knowing nods of appreciation whenever I say
that, rolling away from me knowing that the premiere skatepark building company on Planet Earth built the
Lathrop Skate Park.
Thanks for all your hard work, your hours of phone calls and e-mails to make our park the success it is today. It
has instantly become the busiest recreation facility in our town with 100 to 200 users a day.”
- Gabriel Goulart, Recreation Supervisor

“On behalf of the Oswegoland Park District, I want to say how pleased we are with our new concrete skate
park. The comments from the community have been overwhelmingly positive. On sunny days, the skate park is
packed with kids. But, even on the coldest of winter days, as long as there is no snow, there is a skateboarder
or BMX biker in our park. For our Park District, that is what it is all about—creating opportunities for a healthy
community.
During the design process, Spohn Ranch representatives Aaron and Jason listened and worked closely with us
to customize our skate park to fit the needs of our community.
During the construction, Doug, Mark and his team were knowledgeable professionals and communicated well
with us. The precise engineering of the concrete allowed for a smooth construction process. Spohn Ranch also
hired outstanding, experienced local subcontractors to successfully complete the other facets of the
project. Again, this was a rewarding project for our park district and we enjoyed working with Spohn Ranch to
bring it to reality.”
- Chad Feldetoo, ASLA, Senior Park Planner
LATHROP SKATEPARK – Lathrop, California
PRAIRIE POINT SKATEPARK – Oswego, Illinois
