“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to you and your staff in assisting Herbert, Rowland & Grubic,
Inc. (HRG) as Bellevue Borough Engineer and by providing design/build services for the Phase 1 and 2 Bellevue
Borough, Bayne Park Skate Plaza project.
This project was initially conceived by the Borough in 2010. Funding for the Phase 1 and Phase 2 plaza
construction work was received over a two year period from various federal, state and local sources. Because
of this funding mix, a competitive bid process was required. Spohn Ranch was selected as the design/build
firm for both phases of plaza construction. You and your staff assisted the Borough and HRG in all phases of
design, construction and management of subcontractors. Your attention to detail and communication with all
parties involved (not to mention patience related to weather delays) allowed the Borough to realize the
completion of Phase 1 in August 2011 and Phase 2 in June of 2013.
Borough leaders, local skateboard enthusiasts and adjacent municipality representatives have provided much
positive feedback on your company’s work.
I would like to again express my appreciation for your efforts and state that I would be happy to recommend
Spohn Ranch for the design and construction of any new skateparks.”
- John Rusnak, P.E.

“My husband and I were part of the committee that worked with our local park board to develop a skate and
bike park in the small City of Wyoming. Having never been part of a project like this, we were immediately
impressed with Spohn Ranch from the first phone call we made. We had gotten Spohn Ranch’s name from
another skatepark we visit frequently with our kids and from first contact they assured us that they could
assist with answering all of our questions, no matter how trivial, and would be able to help us through the
process of fundraising and working with our city officials to get the project implemented.
Our project was somewhat difficult in that we are a small community with a limited budget, yet we have many
different types of riders in our area. We needed a park that would work for skaters and bikers, young and old.
Regardless, the team at Spohn Ranch did an excellent job of explaining every step and made it all work.
We ended up with a beautiful design that met all of the needs of the kids in our community and fit well
within our limited budget. This was a learning experience for all involved, but Spohn Ranch made it an easy
process and continued to follow up with us throughout. Our park has only been open for about 6 weeks, but it
is a huge success story and we have Spohn Ranch to thank for that!
- Lois and Russell Janke, Wyoming, MN Skatepark Committee

BAYNE PARK SKATEPARK – Bellevue, Pennsylvania
GOODVIEW AVENUE SKATEPARK – Wyoming, Minnesota
