Discussion on 175rn Avenue Proposed Improvement Project <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer stated that he needed further direction from Council <br />as to what the 175rn Avenue improvement project should include and how the <br />project should be assessed. Mr. Maurer requested council to determine whether <br />to include sanitary sewer and water in the project at this time or delay until a later <br />date at an extra cost of $25,000-$35,000. Mr. Maurer requested council to decide <br />how to proceed with land acquisitions, as 175th Avenue is an old township road <br />with no documented right-of-way. <br /> <br />Council directed Mr. Maurer to not include sewer and water in the 175th Avenue <br />Improvement project at this time. <br /> <br />Council also directed Mr. Maurer to proceed with attempting to get the right-of- <br />way from the property owners at no cost in exchange for no street assessment. <br /> <br />3.5. Consider Bids for 2000 Seal Coat Program <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer stated that the city received 3 bids for the 2000 seal <br />coating program. Mr. Maurer stated that Allied Blacktop was the Iow bidder at <br />$47, 348.20. <br /> <br />COUNClLMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO ACCEPT THE BID OF $47,348.20 BY ALLIED <br />BLACKTOP. COUNClLMEMBER MOTIN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />8. Other Business <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers stated that Building and Zoning Secretary Theresa <br />Ferguson has resigned and requested authorization to seek candidates to fill <br />the vacancy. <br /> <br />COUNClLMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF BUILDING <br />AND ZONING SECRETARY THERESA FERGUSON AND TO SEEK CANDIDATES TO FILL <br />THE VACANCY. COUNClLMEMBER DIEI'Z SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers questioned whether the council is ready to make <br />a decision on the financial consultants for the city. Mayor Klinzing stated that <br />council would like to hear staff recommendations. <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers questioned whether he could send a letter to the <br />Minnesota Sports Federation, which stated in part that the council would like <br />to donate the "water tower" site to the YMCA who is interested in locating in <br />the city. The council unanimously agreed that staff should send the proposed <br />letter. Pat noted the potential for cost sharing in a YMCA feasibility study. <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers stated that the Northstar Corridor will be holding <br />a commuter rail demonstration and that tickets are available if the council <br />were interested. Pat commented on staff's concerns about the 171st demo <br />site being in a construction zone. Mayor Klinzing stated the issues of parking, <br />police, and risers will be addressed. Mayor Klinzing noted that the city should <br />obtain indemnification insurance from the Northstar Corridor. <br /> <br /> <br />
